Spring Weather in Mykonos

It’s possible that if you’re in northern Europe or part of the States you’re currently having to endure the post Christmas blues in the depths of another miserable wet, cold and dark winter! Well, the good news is that now’s a great time to start looking forward to the weather you can expect in Mykonos this spring! We generally enjoy a nice bit of sunshine during April through to June, with average temperatures starting out in the mid to high teens (60-65F) and getting progressively warmer as spring turns to summer. If you’re hitting one of our beaches, expect a cool and refreshing sea temperature in April (around 16 degrees celsius, or 61F) rising to the balmy low to mid 20s (70-77F) in May and June. Just right then, for a spot of sunbathing and the odd swim if you fancy it! We do expect to get a few days of rain each month in springtime, but you can use this is a great opportunity to see a new side of the island instead!

Spring is a Good Time to Explore Mykonos

You’re likely to find that spring in Mykonos is a little quieter than our fabulous hectic summers when we party non-stop and attract a host of celebrities to our shores. A spring holiday is a great time to get to know some of the ‘real’ Mykonos. Explore the island’s rich cultural wealth at your own pace, as you’ll be free from some of the crowds of the summer. Spring is an excellent time for keen photographers to visit Mykonos – you’ll have sweeping blue Mykonian skies with occasional spectacular cloud formations to play with, and the opportunity to shoot photos of the gorgeous whitewashed houses and winding cobbled streets of the Chora without having your shots photobombed by tourists! Don’t forget the landscape photo opportunities too, as the countryside comes to life in a rich palette of vivid natural colours! You can also explore Mykonos’ famous sights like the iconic windmills and Panagia Tourliani Monastery in cooler temperatures (you won’t need to hide from the midday sun as much), and it’s a good opportunity to take a day trip to Delos to discover the ruins of this UNESCO World Heritage Site without the crowds. And of course, for any of those few days when it may be a bit rainy or cloudy you can also visit Mykonos’ Archaeological Museum or Maritime Museum, or even take a wander around one of our lovely art galleries!

First Look at the Summer Hot Spots in Mykonos

If you visit Mykonos in spring you’ll have the rare opportunity to see the island at the very start of the season as everything starts gearing up for the summer! It’s an exciting time as everyone comes out of their winter hibernation, and shops, restaurants and bars begin to throw open their doors, show off their latest facelifts and new looks and welcome their first customers. If you’re the sort of person who likes to get a sneak preview of everything (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?) it’s a great opportunity to get a first look lowdown on the new Mykonos hot spots opening for the summer, and also catch some fashion trends and ideas in the boutique shops of the Chora before anyone else. See Greek Orthodox Easter in Mykonos

If you holiday in Mykonos this spring, you will also be able to witness and take part in the marvellous spectacle that is the Greek Orthodox Easter celebrations in Mykonos. As religion still plays a big role in our country, Easter is the most important public event of our year, so if you’re a Grecophile it really is something you must take part in at least once! In 2017 Easter Sunday will be on the 16th of April, just after we’ve opened for the season – so you can combine your experience of Greek Easter with a stay in our luxury sea view villas in Panormos bay!

Spring Yoga Breaks in Mykonos
